HEI Energy issues RFAs to characterize potential human exposure originating from UOGD
HEI Energy — an affiliate of the Health Effects Institute — is seeking to fund research to improve the characterization of potential human exposures originating directly from the onshore development of oil and natural gas from unconventional resources across oil- and natural gas-producing (UOGD) regions in the United States. The two Requests for Applications (RFAs) for research seek quantification of the temporal and spatial variability in community exposures (1) to chemicals in outdoor air and to noise originating from UOGD (E20-1) and (2) to chemicals in groundwater or surface water originating from UOGD (E20-2). HEI-Energy is seeking multidisciplinary teams with the skill and capacity to conduct exposure studies in multiple oil- and gas-producing regions of the United States.
Preliminary applications are due September 24, 2020. On August 20, 2020, HEI Energy hosted a webinar for applicants to summarize the goals of these RFAs and to answer applicant questions. Funding is provided jointly by the U.S. EPA and the oil and natural gas industry. Learn more.
